Cybersecurity Assessment of the Month – Lewis-Clark State College

Operation Cyber Idaho’s mission has aimed to enhance the State of Idaho’s cyber resilience and preparedness in the ever-evolving cyber threat sector. One initiative that helps drive this effort are the week-long vulnerability assessments. They’re conducted for agencies, cities, counties, school districts, and other critical infrastructure entities.

ITS and the Idaho Army National Guard (IDARNG) had the opportunity to collaborate with Latah County to assist a higher education institution in need of a vulnerability assessment. Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) in Lewiston has been dedicated to continuously enhancing their cybersecurity defenses for students and staff. The ITS team, which included a cybersecurity staff member, an apprentice from Latah County, and Guardsmen, evaluated LCSC’s current security posture, identified potential vulnerabilities, assessed risks, and provided actionable recommendations for improvement.

This collaboration highlighted how Operation Cyber Idaho effectively supported an external agency in addressing their technical and security concerns, while utilizing talent developed through our apprenticeship program.
