As the nation observes Cybersecurity Awareness Month under the theme “Building a Cyber Strong America,” Idaho is taking bold steps to lead by example through its flagship initiative, Operation Cyber Idaho.
Launched by the Idaho Office of Information Technology Services in collaboration with the Idaho Army National Guard and Boise State University, Operation Cyber Idaho is funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. The initiative is designed to enhance Idaho’s cyber resilience through:
- Idaho Readiness Training (IRT) for hands-on workforce development
- Cyber infrastructure services including threat detection and vulnerability remediation
- Collective defense strategies tailored to Idaho’s regional and rural needs
Operation Cyber Idaho is about more than just defense, it’s about building a sustainable, skilled cybersecurity workforce and fostering trust in public systems.
This initiative aligns with the national Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign, which emphasizes practical steps for individuals and organizations to protect themselves online—such as enabling multi-factor authentication, using strong passwords, and staying alert to phishing threats.
As cyber threats continue to evolve, Idaho’s proactive approach through Operation Cyber Idaho demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding its digital infrastructure and empowering its communities.
