Cybersecurity Assessment of the Month: Idaho State Police

ITS staff at Idaho State Police conducting a cybersecurity assessment

With the final preparatory steps for Phase 5 IT Modernization on the horizon, ITS had the ability to partner with Idaho State Police (ISP) this past month in conducting a weeklong cybersecurity assessment. ISP is a large agency that deals with sensitive information within the State of Idaho. As part of the continuing efforts to help identify vulnerabilities and blind spots for ITS-supported agencies, ISP has taken the initiative to refine their security tools, identify gaps, and improve their security posture.

This assessment was a collaborative effort with involvement from the Idaho Army National Guard (IDARNG), Secretary of State (SOS), and ITS, creating a team that demonstrated varying skill levels. This further validated how collaborative events such as this benefit all participants, from building up cyber talent in Idaho to providing the community partner tangible action steps. ITS is appreciative of ISP for allowing the event to take place, instilling trust while strengthening Idaho’s cybersecurity posture.
