ITS has been managing a “Grave Locator” application that helps visitors at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Boise to find the graves of their loved ones. The data on the application is directly tied to the management software used at the cemetery and is refreshed on the map every night. The application was used over 6,000 times in the previous year.
The application is provided as a stand-alone application and embedded in a kiosk-type application that includes more information about the cemetery’s history and services offered at the cemetery.
Users can find a grave using the first and/or last name of the deceased. The map will show the location and designation of the burial plot in the cemetery.
The kiosk style story map includes, besides the Plot locator application, also information about the cemetery’s history, military honors, performance of taps and floral regulations to help visitors plan their visit to the cemetery.
