Liquor Division and ITS Partnership

Idaho State Liquor Division

Did you know that ITS has a Liquor store right here on the Chinden Campus in Building 8? A full production replica of a State Liquor store, complete with “inventory” and a cash drawer is located in the Application Development team area.

Prior to Modernization, the Idaho State Liquor Division (ISLD) had a small team of software developers and staff supporting nearly 70 state-owned liquor stores across Idaho. As a result of Modernization, the number of software developers supporting ISLD has doubled.

Additionally, Network, On-site support, and physical Infrastructure staff at ITS provide a holistic and comprehensive support team to keep liquor flowing through Gem State liquor stores and bars.

The liquor store simulator on campus allows the application development team to test new software, devices, and software updates that are used to manage and track inventory and sales across stores and distribution sites in Idaho, encompassing approximately 3,390 products. The simulator is available by appointment for other ITS teams to gain familiarity with store hardware and software.

So, the next time you are out buying booze, just remember the team bringing that smooth product to your local store. Cheers!
